Stratified Random Sampling selects a smaller interview group that proportionally reflects the demographics of the full applicant pool. For example, if 10% of applicants are female Hispanic, then 10% of interview invites will come from that group. The total number selected is based on how many candidates are needed to produce enough eligible hires to meet the fire department's staffing needs.
